You can now find images of street photography on my website.
I have always been fascinated by the subject but have never taken many photographs, mainly because I have never really had the time to exclusively go out and concentrate on this one genre. That is about to change and hopefully this year will see many more photographs taken.

So what is street photography? There are many types but in essence it is taking photos on the street of everyday life. Sometimes these have a comical aspect but normally convey people going about their everyday lives. One rule is that they should not be staged so street portraiture where you ask to take peoples photos are not included.

There is a lot of discussion as to whether they should be solely black and white or can include colour. I like to do both as I think some images just work better in colour. In the image on the right from Chines New Year it is the colour that puts the shot into context.
One of the earliest street photographers was Henri Cartier-Bresson also known as the farther of photo journalism who documented the everyday life in France.
